Games, Horror & Heavy Metal…What Else Is Life For?

Mighty Magic Animal combine a love of 90’s alternative music with a tongue in cheek look at a lot of life’s modern problems. The result is this 4-track ode to grunge, punk, rock, and blues.

Kicking off with a blast of dirty punk energy, the stop-start nature of Run makes for a disjointed but interesting listen. The underlay of fuzz makes things sound all the grimier and the vocal style is quite unique. You wouldn’t be surprised to hear this blasting out of some gritty, underground bar.

With a bluesy ring and grungy groove, Line is a real foot-tapper that has chaotic outbursts of instrumentation. A track, that if you were told was released in 1992, you’d believe. Then, on Picture, Mighty Magic Animal deliver head-banging guitar tones that rock and rock hard. A track that blows through in a little over 2 minutes but leaves an impact.

Before the EP closes out with the amusing attitude of Suitable. A track we can all relate to lyrically. A track that has a more ‘in your face’ approach but doesn’t betray the consistent alt-rock vibe of the EP overall.

It’s a fun listen and is short enough to digest really easily. Each track has something that makes you nod your head or tap your foot too. 7/10
